Background of the study
Social clubs have long served as important venues for youth socialization, offering spaces for networking, cultural exchange, and personal development. In Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State, social clubs provide platforms where young people engage in recreational activities, leadership training, and community service (Adebisi, 2023). These clubs play a vital role in shaping social behaviors, attitudes, and skills necessary for navigating a rapidly changing socio-economic landscape. They offer opportunities for mentorship, peer support, and the cultivation of interpersonal skills, which are essential for career and personal growth (Bello, 2024). Additionally, social clubs often organize events and programs that foster civic engagement and community cohesion. However, challenges such as inadequate funding, limited resources, and sporadic participation have been observed, which may hinder their full potential. This study investigates the impact of social clubs on youth socialization in Badagry, examining both the benefits and challenges associated with club activities and their implications for youth development (Dada, 2025).
Statement of the problem
Youth socialization in Badagry is significantly influenced by social clubs; however, many clubs face challenges that restrict their impact. Inadequate funding, poor management, and irregular program implementation have contributed to suboptimal outcomes in youth engagement and social development (Femi, 2024). Furthermore, a lack of structured programming and mentorship within these clubs often results in missed opportunities for skill development and community involvement. These shortcomings not only affect individual youth development but also impede broader social cohesion and civic participation in the community. Addressing these issues is crucial for maximizing the potential of social clubs as catalysts for positive youth socialization (Ganiyu, 2023).

To assess the impact of social clubs on youth socialization.
To identify challenges faced by social clubs in Badagry.
To recommend strategies for enhancing youth engagement and club effectiveness.

Social clubs have a positive impact on youth socialization.
Financial and management challenges negatively affect club activities.
Structured programming enhances youth engagement in social clubs.
